Happy Camp… Happy People!

Every year in March, when many schools across the country have a Spring Break, thousands of school age students flood into Sun City West to visit their grand parents.  About five years ago the management of SCW came up with a great plan called “Happy Camp.”  Happy Camp has been awarded as one of the top programs in the State of Arizona.

Happy Camp is basically a program where SCW Clubs put on programs for the visiting youth. ARC has participated each year.  In the past we have worked with the Rec Center putting on classes for the young visitors, including The History of the Automobile, Movies, Car Shows, and much more!

This year, ARC’s program was about education and fun!  The education consisted of the basics of upholstery, learning all about bolts and nuts, and which wrenches and tools are best for a given job. The fun was a “Percussion Ensemble” with all the instruments made from tools (including wrenches made into a xylophone).  ARC members proudly displayed their classic cars and muscle cars to the delight of the kids…and their parents!  Happy Camp is a great way the bring the generations together!
