Hometown Heroes 2016

independent Newsmedia and the Recreation Centers of Sun City West again honored volunteers for their service in the annual Hometown Heroes program this morning.The program honored awardees in 10 categories. The winners were chosen from among dozens of nominees submitted by residents and RCSCW personnel.Award categories and their winners were:

Lifetime Achievement – Dusty Rhodes.
Emergency Responder – Rod Ritter.
Business – Bill Hansen.
Mentor/Coach – Barbara Horton.
Community – Bill Beach and Peggy Johnson.
Education – Bette Knuppel.
Faith/Spiritual – Bob Reinberg.
Youth Cheerleader – The Automotive Restoration Club of Sun City West.

Sun City West is an age-restricted community in the Northwest Valley in Maricopa County Arizona. It is a community of about 25,000 people. As the majority of residents are retired, they have plenty of time to retire. They make full use of that time to give back to their community.Some of their volunteer work goes beyond the borders of the community.
